The Golf Department of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board has organised a golf game for a group of representatives of India-based multinational corporations who were visiting the region, and a team made by the managers of Costa del Sol-based golf courses and golf writers. Under the slogan “Incredible India: Indian-Spanish Costa del Sol Trophy,” the game unfolded in two rounds.
All participants were satisfied with the organisation of the game, which was won by the Spanish team. Afterwards, there was a cocktail reception with speeches by Denis Foley (La Cala Resort), H.S. Baidwan (Punjab Golf Association), Jagdeep Singh Cheema (Chandigarh Golf Association), a representative of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, and the Ambassador of India to Spain, Sujata Mehta, who praised this kind of initiatives, which she thought led to a better understanding between India and Spain and opened up multiple business opportunities.
The captain of the Spanish team scooped the trophy, which was given to him by the Indian Ambassador. The captain of the Indian team, in turn, got a trophy from the representative of the Tourist Board.
At the reception, guests shared experiences and discussed the possibility of developing golf-based business projects targeting Indian golfers living in Europe, especially in the UK, and taking advantage of flight connections with Málaga.
This golf game was held to cement relationships with India, an emerging market with a huge potential, and bring our destination closer to Indians living in Europe as a first step to reach this market.
