The Costa del Sol Convention Bureau, MICE Department of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, has been present in the 2nd edition of Conexión Spain.Virtual, a workshop organised by the Spanish Tourist Office in Toronto and drawing Spanish public and private organisations and Canadian clients.
The event, held at the Art Gallery of Ontario, attracted 30 Canadian companies (incentive travel agencies, event planners, and communications or marketing agencies).
Spanish organisations included Paradores de Turismo, Barcelona Convention Bureau, Costa del Sol Convention Bureau, Valencia Convention Bureau, Cititravel, Técnica Incentives, Another Konzept, and ME Barcelona Hotel. The Costa del Sol Convention Bureau attended the event in a strong bid for the Canadian MICE market, supported by local business.
Conexión Spain meant a huge investment on the part of the Spanish Tourist Office in Toronto, as well as other private and public organisations involved. Our Convention Bureau represented Andalusia in the event. In sum, Conexión Spain was a bet on innovation in the marketing efforts for Spain as a travel destination.
The idea was to go beyond traditional buyer-supplier meetings and offer three different types of relationships –traditional, social, or virtual– for Spanish companies and institutions to contact the leading buyers in Canada (agencies and multinational companies organising meetings and incentive trips).
Being a self-branded annual event gathering organisations in both the public and the private sectors and incorporating the use of new technologies, Conexión Spain opens up new business opportunities in the Canadian market. In this regard, innovation is crucial to the marketing of the brand “Spain” from a different perspective. No other international travel destination is developing virtual platforms for social media in the MICE sector. This places us in an advantageous position.
