Iberia Chapter of the Green Meeting Industry Council created

Some thirty MICE trade members from Spain and Portugal (hotels, convention bureaus, incoming travel agencies, organisations, and event planners) got together on Thursday April 28 at Madrid-based Fundación Biodiversidad for the ceremony launching the Iberia Chapter of the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC), a global organisation promoting sustainability and social responsibility in the meetings and events industry.
The meeting was presided over by GMIC President Guy Bigwood, who remarked that the creation of the Iberia Chapter was in line with GMIC’s efforts to create active chapters around the world. “The number of GMIC members has grown significantly at the international level. The Iberian Peninsula has a large share of the international meetings and events market, so we are very pleased that our Spanish and Portuguese members have taken the initiative to become our fourth chapter in Europe,” Mr Bigwood said.
